Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci was born on the 12th of November, 1961 in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast and she has the record of being awarded 10/10 marks during an Olympic competition. Bela Karolyi, later Romanian gymnastics coach, discovered Comaneci at just seven years old. Comaneci participated for the first time in the 1969 national junior championships. She finished 13th. The following year she won the title of champion. In 1972, during the communist nations' meet for junior athletes prior to the Olympics, she won three gold medals. In 1973 and 1974, she became the all-around junior champ. At her first competition as a senior athlete in the year 1975, she beat the Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva who was a five-time European champion, winning 4 gold and one silver medal. The year was 1976 when she took home the American Cup at the New York City Olympics. She also became the first woman ever to remove the parallel bars using backwards double salto. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Carol Wayne's journey in the world of entertainment started as a teenager. Along with her twin sister Nina Wayne, she joined touring entertainment programs that were known as Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was a born on the 6th day of September 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. Carol was a professional in the entertainment business as a teen. Her first job was as a figure skater performing with her younger sibling Nina Wayne as part of the touring entertainment show named Ice Capades. The shows featured theatrical ice-skating shows.
