April Lockhart

April Lockhart born 4 July 1995. She started with guitar and piano in seventh grade. This sparked curiosity. The first song she wrote was called Different, which she wrote at the age of 12. She spent a lot of time at 14 making songs and practicing the piano. In the following months, April started to take trips in NY and LA with her Dad to help them compose songs. April was the month that she began to write about other issues in her book Take My Hand to help the people in her life who are struggling in the face of peer pressure, disability or even suicide. Lockhart is a lifestyle and beauty influencer with a growing fan base. She works with popular brand Ilia in partnership, as well as being an expert in the field of lifestyle. Her birth was without a left hand and that is an aspect of her identity, but it's hardly her whole story. Because of this, her Instagram profile doesn't shy away from her disabilities, yet it doesn't center around it either. What's the message? The message? We are all multifaceted, and that our identity and physical selves are not all that they seem. Lockhart has stated on video that she does not want to be defined solely by her physical disability. She doesn't wish to become an advocate for disabled people who only talks about that. There are a lot of aspects to Lockhart. This doesn't interfere with my everyday life. Everything is normal and I've learned to make adjustments. It's an integral aspect of my existence, so it is important that we talk about it. Self-acceptance is a long marathon however Lockhart is an absolute inspiration on that front. Even so, Lockhart admits that she has had periods when she felt uncomfortable with her appearance, and the clothes which displayed her arms. The woman now puts on whatever clothes she wishes and shares pictures on Facebook with pride. What makes self-love so appealing to her is that it's not an end goal. It's true for all, no matter what their degree of self-confidence. It's vital to surround yourself those who can discern and understand your heart.
